Where can i find an ethernet cord for my Acer laptop?
Im going to college! and in my dorm room we are not allowed to use wirless routers..soo i need an ethernet cord to connect to my schools network..so where can i find one for an acer laptop?

Ethernet cords are the same for any computer. They are also known as RJ45 cords. You can get one at any wal mart or office supply store for under $10. If you don't have an ethernet port, then you need more help that a cord. You will need a ethernet card.

Just go to any Computer supply and ask for an RJ45 cable... If you are connected to a switched, hub or modem, buy a... RJ45 straight through.... If you will connect it to a PC, server, or a Router, buy a... RJ45 crossover.... I suggest, buy two types... Don't forget to label it.... Have a nice LAN/WAN experience...

How can I get this internet timer off my acer laptop?
I have an acer laptop, and a few months ago my stupid uncle put a timer on my internet... I tried getting it off by "control panel" then by clicking "parental controls" I shut the timer off, but he did not put a timer on from there... I really don't know how he did it,, please help :( Any ideas on how he did itt and how to get it off?? If you need anymore info just ask.(:

ask mum or dad . your uncle maybe put the timer on so you dont sit up all night on it.

The place where you insert the charger into the back of my ACER laptop is not working. The cord some how pushed the piece in. I want to know if it is possible for me to charge the laptop through one of the USB ports.

No. USB cannot handle the amount of power needed to run a laptop and does not have the functionality to do so. The reason the AC jack is broken is not because it was pushed in, but because you used it with the AC plugged into the computer and was not careful. People do not realize how fragile the connection is, it is just a piece of plastic. So likely someone tripped over the cord while it was plugged in, or moved it while the cord was plugged in and bumped it or simply put pressure on it while it was plugged in. The bottom line is you will have to pay to have someone resolder the AC connection to the motherboard and repair the jack. This is not cheap, nor is it permanent because the replacement is not done with original parts. Expect to pay ~$150-300 for repair, as the technician will likely have to completely disassemble the laptop to get to the jack.

How can make a factory image/system restore point for my acer laptop?
I have recently gotten a new laptop and I need to back it up, its an acer aspire 6930, i have no optical discs or dvds to burn it to so anyone have any ideas? i also have a C dirve and D drive so could i somehow save the backup on my D ? is thats so then why do i have 106GB free of 106 GB on my D drive?

The d drive is your recovery partiton, so no you cannot back it up there. That d drive is for your to create your recovery cds for your computer and for you to also format and reinstall windows.

You usually must burn that back-up image to disc. You can postpone doing it, just don't wait too long. Go buy some blank DVDs, you'll be glad you did - I see people whose butts are saved every day by their recovery discs! Best of luck!

Don't do it unless it is exactly the same voltage and wattage as the Acer. The voltage and wattage are on the label of the power adapter.

Laptops use DC power adapters. Each laptop requires a specific adapter that outputs a particular Voltage and Amperage, this information can be found on the adapter. As long as these two numbers match for the Output side of the adapter, and the plugs are exactly the same, then you should be ok, otherwise using it could kill your laptop.

if you are talking about just cord and not the entire charger (cord and adapter) then its fine. if you want to use entire charger, then i dont think it will be possible. the volt requirement will be different and even the connector connecting the laptop and charger may be different..

Yes a very good chance you will kill your Acer unless it is an exact match which is highly unlikely.

In troubleshooting for sound in your lap top you can try the following, check volume controll,if you have head phones try them out or check to see if the sound driver has been corrupted and reinstall it. start/computer/system properties/device manager. You can also restore your pc to last settings[system restore] when you had sound if the problem occurred when you updated your computer.
