Can a Sony Vaio recovery disk be used on an Acer Aspire laptop?
Today I bought a new hard Drive for my Acer laptop. I have recovery disks from when I bought it but the OS on these disks is Windows Vista. When I purchased this laptop it came with a free upgrade to windows 7 when it was released however I lost the disk. I do have a recovery disk for a Sony laptop which uses Windows 7. Will this work?

sadly not i have a Toshiba and my sis has an acer i tried to about the same thing but i had to send my computer to a repair shop because i lost my recovery disks. so it would not be a good idea

Would an Acer laptop be good for video editing?
I'm hoping to buy a new Acer laptop that sports 4GB of RAM and the new Intel Core i3. Compared to my current Advent laptop of 3GB and an Intel Pentium Dual-Core T3400, would it be worth buying for one such as myself who does quite a lot of video editing using the following programs: Sony Vegas Pro 10 and Adobe Premiere Pro 9?

when you go to buy it you should ask them and i am having a dual-core 2GB ram and sony vegas is working just fine because i dont have the adob thingy so yeas ask them

How do I upgrade the wireless card in my Acer Laptop?
I have an Acer Extensa (4420-5239) Laptop. It comes with a Broadcom 802.11g network adapter. (WLAN). It doesn't provide a very good internet connection and I heard a 802.11n would be much better. Is that true? How do I find a compatible card? (Also, how do I install it?) Thank You.

The Broadcom one will be built-in, but if you look on the side of your laptop you will find an expansion slot with a little square button next to it (usually the left hand side on an Acer). There are 2 sizes of this slot (PCMCIA is the proper name for it), older, larger size, or the half size newer type so be careful and find out which you have. Then just buy the wireless card that size and you're sorted - any card of the right size will work magic. You could also just buy a wireless USB 802.11n dongle if you have a USB2 slot, but don't bother if it's just USB1.

Saves power, easier to travel with, needs less space. Laptop are better than dektops in many ways.

There really is only two things you need to decide upon. Do you need portability and do you have limited space? Today's laptops are much better than they were just a few years ago. They rival desktops in many ways, including processing power and speed. Are they up to the task of a good desktop machine? Nope. Lets see... Here's how I see it. Laptop benefits: 1. Portability 2. Less space required (compact) 3. Wireless technology has made it more useful around town. Hot spots!! 4. Your not tied to an electrical outlet, well at least not for a few hours anyway. (A laptop battery usually will last about 4 - 7 hours depending on the battery and what you are doing on the laptop.) Desktop benefits: 1. More powerful (usually) 2. Less money buys more computer. (cheaper) 3. Easily upgraded which makes it last longer. 4. Easier to fix. Separate components let you fix one thing, say replace a monitor. If the monitor dies on your laptop you may as well trash it, it's useless. 5. Bigger displays (although you could plug a laptop into an external display; but then what's the point?) 6. Larger hard drives (more space) 7. Less prone to break. (who drops a desktop?)

It will sound like it is about to go into orbit and then will be quiet for a minute and repeat. There is a temp sensor inside and when the inside hits that is when it goes into orbit. Best results i seemed to have was to sit something underneath it so that the air vents on the left side were not covered up and the hot air could get out. This seemed to stop it from going into orbit like every 5 minutes. 3 : don't put it on your lap... it is not ment to used that way. most of the heat is from CPU. don't worrie about malfuction. if you are paranoid, you can get a notebook cumputer chiller mat. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=notbook+mat&x=0&y=0 4 : Most laptops have their fan at the bottom side. If you put it on your lap, chances are you are stoping the airflow and so you get overheated. Make sure the fan does not rest on your leg.
