My apple ipod is not compatible with my acer laptop?
Is it true that my apple ipod isn't compatible with my acer laptop that's why if i connect my ipod to it, it won't charge but instead, after i unplug it, the battery reduces. my acer laptop is in windows xp. I really don't know what to do. please help. I have itunes and it is the latest version.. If ipods cant be incompatible, then what happened to my ipod?

Do you have iTunes installed on your laptop? In most computers, you need the program to act as a driver for your iPod.

Firstly, an iPod cannot be incompatible... You'll need to download iTunes.. also, if you have iTunes, make sure that it is the latest version and download the latest updates.

No, your ipod is fully compatible with any windows pc from XP and newer, so that is definitely not the problem. The problem many be the usb port and or cable, try changing either one or both of those, so you can get an adequate charge, if those fail, just reset or restore your ipod :)

Can i use a HP laptop charger to charge my ACER laptop?
I am on vacation at my parents house and i forgot my laptop charger, i have documents on my ACER that i need to work on and i don't want to go out and buy an ACER charger. My parents have a HP laptop and i was wondering if i could use their charger to charge my ACER...or would it mess it up? I asked my parent but they aren't great computer people so i was wondering if you guys could help out, thanks.

maybe or maybe not. Because there maybe different voltage between 2 laptop charger. If you use one for another, it will cause over voltage or lower voltage or if you lucky , it may be usable. Btw, You should look at spec of your charger before you do that.

NO, they use different voltage and power, you may mess up your laptop, chargers can be cheap if u look on ebay, they work, just fine, just get that instead of possibly messing up your laptop

Can you replace or add another video/graphics card on an Acer Laptop?
Ive got a couple games i like to play but they are pretty laggy after i play for a few minutes..... so i figured it might be my video card. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5720z with a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family. It says thats the Display adapter so i believe thats the video card. Any ideas?

No, of course not. It's a laptop. You cannot ugprade/add/replace a video card on a laptop.

i didnt evne have to read your details , no laptops come with intergrated graphics card so the graphics card cant be rmeoved or replaced. only some alienware laptops have non intergrated graphics but its rare.

Buy a new laptop otherwise you can't have another video card installed.Sorry, but there's no other way =/

how do i connect my acer laptop to my isymphony tv?
i have the acer aspire one, and the isymphony tv. the tv box said you can connect your laptop to the tv to view your laptop screen on tv. in the manual it only shows how to control the menu, not how to connect. i am not sure if you have to use a cord, or if it is wireless. how do i connect to my tv? thanks in advance. :) i'm pretty sure we already have the hdmi cable set up, but it isn't connected to my laptop, i think it is connected to the cable box.

try looking down below in your system tray. there should be a lil icon that looks like a lil speaker. click on it and adjust your volume. if that does'nt help then right click on it and try to fix it from there. hope this helps, good luck

Is there a "Battery Auto Learning" for Acer laptop batteries like there is for Gateway laptop batteries?
I've found instructions for Battery Auto Learning for Gateway laptop batteries within the BIOS, but I have an Acer laptop (Aspire 1660), and when I tried to follow those directions, the "Battery Auto Learning" option was not listed. Is there a way for me to do a similar function on my computer as Gateway users have?

I believe, this technology was used for laptop powered by Nicad batteries . Nicad batteries were affected by the memory effect and this technology allowed you to reduce the risk of killing your battery premarturaly due to the memory effect. Since laptops now have Lithium Ion batteries, the memory effect is no longer a problem and I don't believe this would be of any good use for your current Acer laptop.

just get a usb web cam from ebay cheap will come with drivers. just remember to download the drivers first and then plug it in system will read it and install it for you, also the laptop cams clip on the screen looking at you movie star your decision Billy R.

Is there a way to change the desktop background on an Acer Laptop?
I have a Acer Laptop, the name of it is Aspire One (atleast thats what it says) and its the small netbook ones, and it has Windows 7 starter, i know everyone says you can't change the desktop background. It doesnt have a personalize button or anything, so i was wondering is there something safe* and easy to download so i can personalize it? i've heard before but some things i dont trust on this computer. please & thank you:)

Save the picture you want to set as your background. Open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Right-click>Set as Desktop Background.

Easy way is just replace the default wallpaper with the one you like. Location - C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper\ The new wallpaper will be visible only after you log off or restart. Or you can install a theme manager like http://www.stardock.com/products/thememanager/

I need to reset the hard drive on my Acer laptop and reinstall windows, but in order to do so, I need to enter a BIOS code, And if I enter the wrong one, it will lock up. How do I find my laptop's BIOS code?

First you need to know who actually wrote the BIOS. During the start up screen it will tell you. If you cannot get a start up screen, you will have to take the laptop apart and find the BIOS tag. Usually, it will say something like "Phoenix" or "Award" or "Ambi" and a version number. Then look up that maker, + beep codes in Google. That should do it. Oh, you should get the installers. For the mic, generally, when you install the O/S, the sound card driver gets automatically installed, so you may not have to worry about the mic. However, for the camera, you may have to go to the manufacturer's website and get the driver relevant to your O/S.

If you are using the recovery procedure supplied with laptops nowadays then yes for the onboard sound. Yes for the mic and web cam if they are built in the laptop. but if they are extra units to the laptop then No for the webcam. The webcam should have come with a setup cd

If your laptop came with a cd full of drivers, try installing it from the cd. If you don't have the disc, try going online to the Acer website, and put in your make and model of laptop, and you should be able to download the webcam driver there. Good luck!

I have an Acer Aspire 3620 laptop. I'm not much of a tech person, so I need step by step instructions.I've already backed up everything I want to back up and I have the backup disks I made when I first got the laptop. A friend reformatted it for me once before, so the disks have been used once, so if I have to make new ones, could you also explain how to do that too?

Hi S Acer has a backup on the D partition of your Laptop. What you need to do is reboot and hit the F11 key... It will bring you automatically to the build in recovery partition and it will re-install the factory default without the use of your CD. Once installed, you can re-install your software after.

is it possible to change charger jack for my acer laptop?
the little pin inside the charger jack for my laptop got loose somehow so now when i plug in the charger it won't charge at all. i have another acer laptop but the screen is broken but it has the same charger jack and same charger. is it possible to pull out the working jack and install it and replace my broken jack? please answer, my laptop is my only working computer.

It can be done but it's very, very difficult. I would take it to a shop and have them look at it. It's not something I would do at home.

The A/C charger port pin is soldered onto the mother board and can be re soldered. It usually cost about $100.00 to have it repaired at a computer center.

Not a job for the do at home project, the new jacks are real inexpensive. I would not try ans salvage an old one

If the only thing wrong with the 2nd pc is the screen, it would probably be much easier to put the good screen on it and use it instead (if it's as good a PC #1). Swapping a screen should be fairly easy. Changing a power jack harder and costlier.

Click Start and then Control Panel, Next, click on the Sounds and Audio Devices, By default it will open up on the Volume tab. Youâ€™ll notice the â€œPlace volume icon in the taskbarâ€ option is either checked or unchecked. If itâ€™s already checked and the icon is not showing up, you need to uncheck the box, and then click Apply. Re-check the box and then click Apply again. Now your icon should appear in the taskbar. If it still disapears it may be set to hidden. Click Start, Properties, Taskbar, Customize, Volume and set to Always Show.

To check the connecting jack & cable carefully (may be the resolution is wrong setting cause it out of order .....for examp...1280X1024)(the fact that the Mon only have 800X600) so you should try another Mon to check It' s quite easy to solve this problem....ha! so you should try another Mon to compare with

It may not be booting up all the way. Have you tried plugging in an external monitor? I think your problem is more to do with the computer part of your laptop rather than the screen.

I had an Acer TravelMate 800 series laptop, but the screen broke so I purchased a new Fujitsu Lifebook A series laptop. I'm already using the hard drive from the Acer, but what else can I use from it? Nothing else is broken besides the screen. like can I use the memory to enhance my fujitsu somehow? Please help!!!

Memory and Hard drives are the only sure bets. Any pcmcia card you had for the old one also. You might be able to salvage and sell the battery and battery charger on Ebay. You could also sell the DVD if it's removable.

i would take the ram, dvd drive and the battery out to to use for spares. you can also just hook up an external monitor to your old laptop, switch the display to the monitor, then under your power options switch : "When close lid" from "sleep" to "do nothing". now you have a very slimline, perfectly functional desktop pc. you could grab a little envision flatscreen monitor for like nothing these days.

It can be said that the two brands of notebooks, not too big or availability. The same is true of memory, and you can not be different models of normal use. I see you intended to sell a bad notebook, in exchange for money to buy new parts to upgrade. So some of the security. Do not hamper the new.
