How can i remove the second 'Acer home' tab that opens every time i use IE on my Acer laptop that runs Vista?
i run Vista Home Premium on my Acer 5738 laptop and need to know how to remove the second 'Acer worldwide home' browser tab that opens every time i open Internet Explorer. product registration makes no difference.help! Regards, Nick

Click Tools, Internet Options, then make sure there's only one "Acer Worldwide" home browser listed in the Home Page box.

Acer erecovery management environment, what do i do?

acer laptop restarts repeatedly to acer erecovery management environment, what do i do?
after restoring my laptop to factory default setting by just clicking on eRecovery, Restore, then Restore to factory default settings, my laptop then restarted and it restored successfully. however after clicking ok, it restarts again and goes to acer erecovery management once more. thus the process just keeps on repeating. how can i make my laptop load to the normal windows? thanks :) i can't get it into safe mode even if i click F8.

Sounds like yur computer is booting to a CD or a recovery program. I would look at the startup and see what it's booting to or see what program is running when your PC starts up. You may have to go into Safe Mode and see if the computer will boot with minimum drivers and progams running. You need to get the ERecovery program turned off so that you can start your PC with all drivers and programs normally again!

verify your boot priority is set to defaut in the BIOS. F2 at Acer screen>scroll to Boot priority> tap f9 to load default settings.> yes to confirm> f10 to save and exit. *Note before exiting remove any discs in the cd rom drive. unit should load back to acer screen and directly to OS. if all else fails power the unit down completely remove the battery and the ac adapter and hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. after this plug everything back in and attempt to power on. unit should stop attempting to resume any processes after this.

two options: 1. buy portable hard-drive, which you can connect through usb port, use it to store your valuable data. 2. go to your local computer repair shop they will be able to transfer data from one hard-drive to other just by connecting both to 1 machine.

usb flash drive or external hard-drive.. drag and drop

Get a cheap jump-drive.

Why don't you buy an external (a hard disk) , and put all your stuff on that. then put them on your new laptop.? :)

wifi is built in so just find a signal and go.If not get a router at home.

If the laptop doesn't have integrated wifi, then you'll have to get a wireless card for it.

Over by where the time is, there should be a little arrow pointing to your left. Click on it. Scroll over to where it'll say Wireless Connections. Click on that. It should say something like view local networks. Click on that. And look for one with full bars and one that has the unlocked signal. Then you should be all set.

A friend is having Acer laptop computer problems?
So one of my friends has an acer laptop, i forget what kind, and she told me that as soon as she plugs it in for charge the Wifi card stops working. Is this a common thing with Acer Laptops? Or is it just another problem? Can you help me out so I can help my friend?

same yes its common... is that seriously the only problem uve had with it??? wow ur lucky! mine is now a desktop lol, the battery broke, the trackpad and motherboard went, lol every time u have a problem bring it in for warranty... until u have enough money for a mac. so i switched to mac! once u go mac ull never go back!

This problem cannot be diagnosed remotely, a certified technician should take a look at it.

Acer are rubbish You get a working one and its great but if it breaks they can be a nightmare What model has she got i would recommend reloading all the drivers http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html go to here find her model then download the drivers for her model and operating system if this still doesn't work then take it to a computer shop for diagnostics i would imagine that the motherboards power controller is overloading the wifi card and stopping it from working

Check the power options. On my Acer Aspire 5720Z if I unplug it from the mains it will reduce any un-necessary power consumption i.e. dimmed screen, HD's spin down, and the WiFi is shut off. This doesn't happen when I plug it in though.

yeah take it to someone who will fix that that happened to my teachers computer and it was fixed in no time!

The wi-fi card shouldn't stop working just because she plugs in the charger. This has never happened to me on my laptop, so I am going to guess that she has maybe a loose connection somewhere that shows itself when she plugs in the charger. Maybe her wi-fi card isn't plugged in solidly or something is loose inside the laptop so that when she plugs in the charger, the movement around the charger socket causes something to open up inside. These are just speculations since I'm not there in front of the laptop to see for myself what's going on.

There is a hardware problem in your friend's computer. The best action to undertake is to take the shop to an Acer warranty or support center. There may be other causes that the center can point out.

I agree with Dan S - I dislike laptops they are fragile and the cost of repairs out weighs the money you spend to buy them. However, being a student or in some professions laptops are needed and I also was lucky enough to get a Mac book laptop for my birthday -Apple is just better when it comes to laptops - and I am a serious PC person. Apple is also better for people who have no computer knowledge and the life of their computer are longer. I also must say that the Apple support staff and tech people are educated and you do not get someone from India (nice people) trying to assist you. I never had any problems with my Acer, which is one of the better laptop - but I sold it when I got my Mac book. Hopefully you have it under warranty - best not to try to fix it yourself just send it in and if possible sell it and get a Mac book!
