How do I set my acer laptop to when I first got it?
I want to return my acer laptop but i have to set it so that it is like I first got it. I do not want any of my files, folders, pictures, music or anything or the sort on the laptop when I return it. Does anyone know how I can reset my acer laptop to when it was still in the box? Thanks!

reformat your hard drive.. re install your OS.

Hopefully you set a system restore point when you first got it. If not then go accessories - system tools - system restore and see if there is a restore point to select. lol Keep in mind that Acer has hidden away a 9.76 gig partition that contains the install media. But leave that alone without calling Acer first for advice.

I have a Vista Acer laptop and im gonna change my OS to 7 so After i reformatted my drive c will my drivers still work? (Intel celeron processor,audio and video things etc.)

For the processor, make sure that Windows 7 is compatible with the Celeron processor in your laptop before you attempt any upgrade. Check out Microsoft's website to make sure 7 is compatible with your CPU. You may run into some issues with the audio and video drivers. After you install 7, you might have to go to the manufacturers website for both the video card and the audio card and download the latest drivers for your particular cards. Once you download them, run the installer application for each and you should be good to go after that. is done. Its not very difficult but maybe a little time consuming since you will most likely have to restart your system multiple times.

Yes ofcourse,its just that u need to backup ur drivers first.Vista drivers of some laptops are compatible with widows 7 cos they do have some features like vista.Again u can log on to acer website and and download the drivers on www.acer.com/drivers.Back-up the drivers to drive d and continue formatting the c drive.

Software should have been installed for it at the factory, but also may be on a setup disk that came with it. I can't tell you what the name of the software is, because that changes rapidly. Or, you can go on line to Acer, give model of computer, and see a support page for all the features.

How can I actually get my Acer laptop to start up properly?
I have an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop, and I'm unable to get onto my computer. When I turn it on, I get a screen that says 'Windows Error Recovery'. I have launched startup repair, tried F2, F8 and F10, and nothing works. Can't even get it started in safe mode. Is there something I can do?

Reinstall windows, put the CD in the drive and boot from CD

Don't buy Acer again. Smash this one with a rock, it will make you feel better

I have an Acer laptop and if yours is anything like mins it won't have come with a CD. When booting hold Atl and press F10. This will access a hidden partition and reinstall to factory settings.

In simple terms its 'jammed up' -Take the battery out - connect battery charger adaptor to LT - switch on mains power (with the battery still out) - Press the centre start button and hold it down for 10 seconds and release then hold it down for another 15 seconds (its all done on modes hold down so long for this and that). When it starts up - put the battery back in with the mains power still on - you won't get an electric shock or anything because your only pushing the battery back in the slot - don't drop the LT - and your away. What you've done is give the 'inside' and the battery a power jolt - because things are 'sticking inside' (simple terms) they all do it from time to time.

You could opt for reformatting your laptop but there is the risk of losing your files and documents. Better let a technician do the troubleshooting for you. Let him give you other options of fixing your laptop.If your warranty still works, use it to cover the expense.

My laptop wont turn and just shows the acer sign and then restarts?
I have an acer laptop and all of a sudden it wont turn on and all it does is restart constantly. I see the acer screen but it turns right off again. Ive pressed all the buttons and used F2 but still wont let me get in it. Does anyone know what i could do? We checked for problems with a scan and it says there is nothing wrong at all. School starts next week and i need the comp!! Can anyone help me?

Press F8 at start up to enter start options, choose last know good configuration or safe mode with networking. The operating system has corrupt start up files, copy and save any thing of importance for later use. Do a system repair or install using built in recovery by pressing F 10 at start up. Order a set of system recovery disc by model and serial number to do a system repair or install from: http://support.acer.com/Default.aspx under additional resources.

i had a similar problem with my desktop. it turned out that the hard drive broke. it made a clicking noise then restarted over and over again. if it's not a hardware problem, then the files that are required to boot a computer are corrupted. use a boot disc if this is the case.

I am sorry but I am positive that it is system corrupt files that is giving you trouble. You said that pressing any keys won't do anything, so there is no way that you can start your computer in safe mode, or do any system recovery. If you are not able to turn on your computer then probably you won't be able to back up your files. So, you need to perform a clean setup, go to your vendor if you can't. And for the next time, do NOT open any unknown websites, there are viruses, mal-ware, and stuffs like that that corrupts your computer and makes it useless, try string Anti-Virus software. This happens a lot. So you should not get exposed with harmful sites, for now, you definitely need to start clean setup.
