How do i get the sound on my acer laptop to work?
I've had an acer laptop for a couple of years now and the sound has never been an issue. Last week I took it to get it fixed because it had a lot of viruses. When i got it back everything was working fine, except now I can't hear anything. I looked on my volume controls and nothing is on mute. I've even restarted my laptop several times. Also, when i press the volume button, no volume bar shows up on the screen like usual. Please help, thanks.

They didn't reload all your drivers Find your model and select your version of Windows http://www.acersupport.com/drivers_download.aspx Download the audio driver Then Click the Applications Tab and install Launch Manager so the Easy Launch buttons work again

I'm planning to buy an acer but I want to know which acer has what I need for school work and don't tell me about a desktop. I only want a notebook/laptop. I need to install microsoft 2003 on an acer with a built in cd drive.

Im pretty sure they all have CD drive. Do u mean BLU-Ray drives? u know for the blu-ray movies, bcuz i seen a couple out there but they were kinda expensive.
2 :
Most laptops including Acer have a CD or DVD combo reader and writer. Very rare that one does not come with one and it is obvious when they don't have one . You have to look. If you need help any place where you are looking to buy a computer should have the specs on the computer or a sales person to help.

How can I prevent my Acer laptop from overheating and turning itself off?
I own an Acer Aspire 7720, which I've had no problems with until now. The laptop will be on for a few hours and then it'll turn off and I won't be able to turn it back on for at least an hour or two after. If this is due to overheating, how can I prevent this from happening?

Laptops need to dissipate heat by at least some airflow underneath, so typically, you can't actually have them on your laps for a long time. Don't put it on carpet, on a bed or pillow or other such thing. Put it on a hard surface -- a table, a lapdesk, a large book -- anything so that it's legs are keeping it a little off the surface and letting air get underneath. Also make sure that any vents you see on the case are not blocked by dust, your hands, or anything else.

ACER laptop.....???
i just bought an ACER laptop few days ago, the 4920 series. i had only 2 brands in my head, Acer and Dell, but after i got some 'advices' and the pros and cons of these 2, i chose Acer. Its also because, Acer has been the No. 1 laptop brand in my country, as well as thru out the Asian region. Just wanna know if any of you are using Acer too, or have had experience with it. I wanna hear your thoughts. the bottomline is, i think no matter what brand u have...it all depends on how you're using it. how good you handle it, how good you're taking care of it :)

acer is good laptop............ but u must sure that u got all the softwares cd with it... in comparision dell give u all such software cds even the cd of vista

I've worked with many Acer's We have them here at work THEY'RE TERRIBLE!!! they break down constantly freezing up, BSOD, drive crashes, terrible terrible comps... IMO!!

Yep I have the 4520 and I can satisfied. I just was not happy with trialware. But that is OK I know how to get all the rest by myself and have done so. The machine is fine and so is VISTA.

My dad has an acer, and he says it reallly sux... He was going to get a MacBook, but he got a really good deal on one of the more advanced ones, and he says everything about it (except the webcam built in) sux.... sorry to let u down, but get a MacBook... No pcs no PCs

if anyone has an acer laptop (with camera) i need some help! 1st of all i cant activate the camera! The camera is like tuned off and i cant figure out how to turn it on. Also i think somewhere in the acer arcade (if u know what i am talking about) i think u can do some kareoke mode thing where u can sing to a song and it will just play the backround music for u. But i need help figuring out how to do this!

there is an icon called acer orbicam.click on that on ur desktop.if u don't hav the icon, go to start n click on help and support n type in orbicam.good luck.

My Acer laptop is out of warranty. Some repair work is required now. Should I go to an authorised Acer service centre or will my local vendor be good enough? I believe Acer charges a lot.

acer might be more expensive than going to a local shop to fix it. but if you can, ask for quotes before you decide on either.

Your local vendor will be fine. You dont really have to go to Acer because they will charge to much money.

Depending on the damage, it may cost a significant amount to repair the laptop. You may consider buying a new laptop if its cheaper than repairs.

try going to geeksqad if they cant repair it then visit your local computer store.

If you are satisfy with your laptop and you need that he continuing to work perfect go at Acer - price could be high but you'll get perfect laptop again. It depends on what's wrong with your laptop. If it's physical, buy a replacement part on eBay (or other cheeap part dealers) and have a handy person install it for you. If it's software, recover your system using eRecovery. Shipping it to Acer could take a lot of time and money, and they may not fix the problem. So, local vendors are the way to go. But many stores just rip you off for diagnosing what the problem is and don't refund your money if the problem isn't fixed. Good Luck!
