What does a blinking amber/orange light mean on an Acer laptop?
I have an Acer Aspire 5720Z laptop and my cord is plugged into my laptop to charge my battery, but sometimes it doesn't charge and starts blinking an amber/orange light. What does the amber light mean and why won't my battery charge?

from your description, it could be the battery, I have a pc, so i am not familiar with laptops.

Batteries, AC adapters, and power ports can all go out on a laptop. Batteries and AC adapters are the more common failures, and fortunately cheaper to replace. Have a tech or a physics teacher test your AC adapter. (Trust me, your physics teacher has a voltmeter). You're looking for 18v plus or minus one. Anything else, and the AC adapter is to blame. Batteries are a bit trickier to test, so you may need to see a tech on that one.

How do I open my acer laptop cd drive?
I just got an acer aspire laptop and the disc drive won't open. There's an eject looking button on the top of the keyboard that i assume opens it but when i press the button, nothing happens. Anyone know what to do?

If your hardware eject button isn't working, try opening My Computer, right click on the CD drive, and click Eject. That usually works :) Edit: Also, if the eject button is a different color than the rest of the keys, look for a button labelled "Fn" Try holding that button while pressing eject. It may require it.

on all the computers I have seen there is a button on the disk drive that ejects it...maybe the new ones have something on the top... but that might need to be set up or turned on...kind of like internet short cut keys usually need to be set up or turned on to use.

How do I reset my Acer laptop to when it was still in the box?
I want to return my Acer laptop, but I first need to reset it so that it was like it has never been used before. I do not have any disks and I cannot format the hard drive. Does anyone know how? Thanks!

Well in windows u can go back in time using system restore points well this "resets" the OS to its original state. to do follow the instructions. Go to the start All programs Accessories System utilities in here you will find "System Restore" Select the best restore point. And u are done.!!!!!

You need to run your "System Restore". If your computer did not come with a set of Restore disks, then the Restore data is probably on a partition on your hard drive that is usually called "D". You may need to burn this partition to disk before you can use it. If you don't have either the disk set or the partition you will need to purchase an XP installation CD and install it, but you won't have any of your computers drivers, so there may be a few things that won't work.

When you first buy the laptop you can burn a recovery disk. Perhaps it's not too late for you to do so. The instructions should be in the manual. Usually there are two blank disks included when you first open the box. That is what the disks are for. If you haven't had it for very long, then you should be able to burn the disks. Then all you do is reinstall the system with your burnt disk(s) and its back to it's original format.

On an Acer laptop the trick is to hold down the alt key and repeatedly press f10 while booting, which will bring up the utility to reimage your disk to the factory default. You can often also do this with an Acer utility named Erecovery from windows.

ok right now i'm not working and i don't have money to buy the restore disk for ACER 3680 to remove these virus that make my laptop so slow.Can any smart people out there help me out.
